Does God Really Hate Sin, But Love The Sinner?
To be honest, this is going to be a very touchy subject and there's bound to be people out there that will strongly disagree with the synopsis of this article.
However, I'm not the type of person that gets hung on people's opinions, especially when it's purely conjecture nor would I care when they can't back it up with Scripture.
This is one of those subjects.
Let me begin this article by stating the obvious....
GOD IS RIGHTEOUS AND SOVEREIGN IN ALL HIS WAYS, EVEN WHEN IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE TO US!
Got that?
Good!
Does God really love the sinner and hate the sin?
I'm going to talk to you, the reader and respond to that question with a "rabbinical question" (which is more of an answer in question form).
Okay, with that said, here's my answer to the above question!
Is it possible to separate the sin from the sinner?
Is God's hatred for the sin and the sinner, righteous or perverted?
If it is possible to separate the sin from the sinner, then how is it done or how does it happen?
I'm sure there are many other questions that can be asked, but for the sake of brevity, I'm going to give an answer to the 3 questions above and provide Scripture verses as well as links below that validate the unquestionable and irrefutable authority and authenticity of the Scriptures as it relates to the subject in this article.
Is it possible to separate the sin from the sinner?
No!
Why?
Because every single one of us are born into a sin-filled world and without the covering of the righteous blood of Jesus, we're simply condemned to Hell and there's nothing that can be done about that.
Is God's hatred for the sin and the sinner, righteous or perverted?
As I pointed out in the beginning of this article, the God I serve is a righteous God and sovereign in all of His ways.
With that being said, God's hatred for the sin and the sinner alike must be a righteous hatred, not perverted. In contrast, Satan's hatred for humanity is a perverted hatred as his hatred for humanity stems from his hatred of God Himself.
It's vitally important to know the difference between the two so as not to be confused by Satan in the kind of hatred served against sinners.
A couple of bible verses come to mind that highlight God's righteous hatred of both sin and the sinner alike.
Here they are:
Malachi 1:3 says the following...
3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.
Then Romans 9:10–13 says the following...
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; 11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. 13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Exact what kind of hatred did God have for Esau?
A righteous (perfected) hatred.
It is this kind of hatred that God has for all sinners that are NOT covered by the righteous blood of Jesus Christ and must be understood in light of His Word.
I won't elaborate in detail on the why God hated Esau, but in a nutshell, Esau sold his birthright in defiance to God.
To be very clear, as a result of God's righteous hatred toward unrighteous sinners, His wrath is reserved exclusively for them and them alone.
Having said that, here's a link that makes a reference to God's wrath as mentioned in a number of verses across the spectrum of Scripture:

If it is possible to separate the sin from the sinner, then how is it done or how does it happen?
It is very possible to separate the sin from the sinner as Jesus has already defeated sin at the cross of Calvary millennia ago. Accepting Jesus Christ and embracing Him as your Lord and Savior is the ONLY way to be cleansed from sin. In short, I just mentioned the "how" in a nutshell. Salvation is a gift that is only given by God alone and His Son (Jesus Christ) is the Way to finding it.
That's it folks! This is the gist of of what maybe a controversial subject, depending on who reads it.
